Spurs announce deal with major online marketplace
Tottenham Hotspur have today launched a new initiative with online ticketing marketplace StubHub which aims to help London’s young people into employment.
The Tottenham Hostpur Pre-Apprenticeship Scheme, delivered by the Club’s foundation in tandem with StubHub, will help provide 16-24 years olds from North London with developing skills, knowledge and experience that are needed to secure apprenticeships or future work.
The StubHub Foundation, a corporate-advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, has provided a £50,000 grant for the two-year scheme which will consist of a 12-week placement mixing hands-on work experience and classroom-based training.
Once they have completed the 12-week placement, participants will continue to receive one-to-one mentoring support from the Premier League club until a suitable apprenticeship, training or employment opportunity has been secured.
Grant Cornwell MBE, Chief Executive Officer of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, believes the initiative fits comfortably with the club’s other projects and said: “We are delighted to be adding the Pre-Apprenticeship Scheme to our portfolio of projects which are driving employment and training opportunities for our community.
“Through projects like this and the support of partners such as the StubHub Foundation, we are able to ensure those living on our doorstep get the right kind of support they need to find a job.”
Nick Harford, Head of Partnerships at StubHub added: “The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation serves as an excellent support system to its community with a mission that StubHub truly believes in.
“As such, we’re very proud to be able to further our relationship with Tottenham Hotspur with a Foundation grant and enthusiastically provide the support of our employees who we believe will provide valuable business insights to complement the programme’s training.”
