Mather & Co. selected for Quarry Bank Mill transformation
Design consultancy Mather & Co. has been appointed to lead the multi-million pound transformation of the Quarry Bank Mill museum in Cheshire.
The Wilmslow-based firm is due to begin work on the multi-phase project in the coming months, creating a new welcome building at the National Trust site and making interior changes to revamp visitor experience.
The project is supported by a £3.9m boost from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Chris Mather, the MD at Mather & Co., said: “We are extremely delighted to have been commissioned by both the National Trust and Quarry Bank Mill for such a fantastic project, particularly as this will be the first National Trust project we’ve undertaken.
“With a strong portfolio of diverse projects, Mather & Co. is well equipped to handle a project of scale, particularly describing the historical significance and story of the site, which is still integral to the area and community today.”
Mather & Co.’s latest appointment follows its work last month to upgrade the entrance of the Chelsea FC Museum.
Quarry Bank Mill project manager Amanda Dalby commented: “Quarry Bank Mill has always been at the heart of the community, and it was essential that we found a team that could capture the spirit of the site and truly portray the wonderful story behind it.
“Mather & Co.‘s unique concept really resonated with us, and we’re confident that the end result will be fantastic.”
The project is due for completion in 2019.
