Neighbourly among UK’s top 50 business innovators

Neighbourly.com – the social platform that connects local community projects with companies that want to make a difference – has today been named as one of the UK’s most innovative companies. It is one of 50 disruptive businesses named in the inaugural Bloomberg Business Innovators list, launched today.

Neighbourly is among a select group on the list to be included in the “Changing Thinking” category. Nick Davies, Founder, said: “Bloomberg describes their Business Innovators list as companies changing the way we live, work, think and act. We’re hugely proud to have made the cut in 2016, but our ambition is to help any business fit that description. Business has a massive opportunity to use its campaigning skills to lead change in a way that everybody wins. Local people will volunteer alongside local staff and re-discover what it means to ‘Be Neighbourly’.”

In its first 18 months, Neighbourly has facilitated over £2million of funding and 8,500 volunteering days for community causes around the UK and Ireland – and its recently launched Neighbourly Food functionality has already diverted 33 tonnes of surplus food to the community groups and vulnerable people that need it most. The business has also expanded to the Netherlands, recruited experienced technology entrepreneur Luke McKeever as Chief Executive Officer, and brought a number of major brands onto the platform.
