Newcastle’s investment potential to be showcased on international stage

Newcastle will be showcased as a city to invest in when a collaborative force from the region attends an international property trade show this March.

Invest Newcastle and leading North East England businesses are attending MIPIM Cannes, a gathering of international property influencers, to promote Newcastle on an international stage, with the aim of bringing millions of pounds worth of investment into the North East economy.

Newcastle City Council is supporting the partnership, to demonstrate the collective ambition of both the public and private sector - to develop the city and strengthen the local economy.

Catherine Walker, Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, said: “We’re delighted to be attending MIPIM this year and to be joined by leading North East businesses, operating in the property and development industry.

“Over the past 12 months we’ve seen increasing interest and a rise in confidence in the regional markets, as the opportunities for investment and development return. It is therefore an important time for Newcastle to have a presence at MIPIM in order to secure new investment - supporting the growth of the city and allowing us to meet the demand from our high growth business sectors.

“We have a track record of our public and private sectors working together to deliver solutions that provide strong returns for developers and occupiers, and we look forward to discussing opportunities with them at the show.”

As one of the few new exhibitors at MIPIM, Newcastle believes that it will bring a fresh portfolio of opportunities to the international audience and demonstrate the strong partnership working between the public and private sector in North East England.

Newcastle boasts key development sites across the city centre and the wider region, including 80 hectares in the Accelerated Development Zone, a 70 hectare Enterprise Zone and the newest Enterprise Zone, Newcastle International Airport Business Park.

In addition, the North East’s thriving economy, competitive prices and fantastic quality of life, provide a strong draw for developers and corporate occupiers.

Nolan Gray, Business Development Director at the Port of Tyne, said: “Attendance at MIPIM is really important if Tyneside and the wider North East region are to benefit from inward investment.

“Through working with Invest Newcastle the Port of Tyne is able to combine resources and market the potential of our offer which includes large development sites on both banks of the River Tyne with access to the Port of Tyne’s support services.”

The Invest Newcastle stand will be located in the Croisette Suites, C19.A, during MIPIM.
