RSPCA Coventry receives cash injection
A leading UK housebuilder is breathing new life into an animal centre in Coventry thanks to a donation from their community initiative.
RSPCA Coventry and Nuneaton has been selected as one of Persimmon Homes Central’s Community Champions, with the charity to receive £1,000 thanks to the scheme.
The project sees a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities over a year.
The centre’s aim is to find suitable new homes for as many animals as possible, providing proper care for those mistreated or abandoned within the local area.
Valder Craner, fundraiser and trustee at the RSPCA Coventry and Nuneaton animal centre, said: “We are so thankful to Persimmon Homes Central for their generous donation of £1,000, with the money being put towards vital maintenance works on our site in Coventry.
“We are a self-funding centre and all the money we raise has to go towards the upkeep of the pets in our care, leaving none spare for substantial maintenance work which often goes overlooked.
“The generosity of Persimmon is certain to create a safer environment for the animals.”
Amanda Benjamin, head of sales at Persimmon Homes Central, said: “We are delighted to be supporting RSPCA Coventry and Nuneaton who do fantastic work when it comes to rehousing vulnerable animals in the local area.
“Persimmon Central’s Community Champions scheme gives any charity in Coventry or Birmingham the chance to apply for a slice of funding, with the initiative already giving away over £10,000 since July.
“We would urge any charities that were unsuccessful last month to visit the Persimmon Homes website to reapply and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
Persimmon Homes has just launched its latest site in Coventry, Paragon Park, with over 100 new homes being built on the site.
Community Champions is a year-long programme with £750,000 to be spread across the housebuilder’s 25 regions. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise funds themselves can apply for match funding of up to £1,000.
