Boldon Company Wins Major CCTV Contract

Boldon based Universal Systems Solutions (USS), an IT and security systems integrator, has been awarded a 3 year contract worth an estimated £500k, to supply, install and maintain public space CCTV cameras, transmission and associated equipment for Newcastle City Council in partnership with the North East Combined Authority.

Initial works will include the provision of 40 Sony PTZ HD cameras which will be deployed along key transport corridors across the Tyne and Wear area for the Urban Traffic Management Control facility (UTMC). The cameras will provide essential additional video feeds directly back to UTMC’s existing control centre using 4G wireless technology allowing them to have real time view to help them manage traffic flows around the region. The new cameras will operational by March 2016.

USS director Kevin Bruce said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this high profile contract and we look forward to working closely with the council and its partners across the region in developing their CCTV capability further to the benefit of all in the N.E”.

Safe Newcastle Community Safety Officer Paul Angus said: “ Throughout the tender process USS were able to demonstrate an innovative approach along with an unrivalled level of technical expertise in designing a solution that will seamlessly integrate new cameras into UTMC’s existing camera monitoring solution“.

As a Sony Gold Partner, one of only two in the UK, USS are recognised as being a leading authority in designing and deploying high quality Full HD CCTV solutions for both public and private sector organisations across the N.E. Recently USS also became the first company, globally, to commercially deploy Sony’s new 4K CCTV camera technology.
