Leeds Dock and Media Yorkshire form partnership to bring capital enterprise to Leeds

Next month, Leeds Dock will partner with Media Yorkshire, a new organisation supporting creative and digital advancement across the region to champion enterprise from London into Leeds.

‘London to Leeds’ is a new initiative, taking place on the 8th and 9th March across three major city sites, which will bring start-ups from London to experience Leeds as a modern digital city.

Coming to Leeds Dock on March 8th, the tour will consist of SMEs visiting Leeds as a potential new base for business.

Leeds Dock has a workspace offering with a number of individual, design-led units as well as smaller suites and hot-desking in its co-work and concept space, ‘The Union’.

Tim Gee, Leeds Dock’s estates director, said: “We are passionate about working with Media Yorkshire and Leeds City Council in their drive to bring the best in enterprise to Leeds. With the new city station entrance opening at the beginning of this month, getting to Leeds Dock is easier than ever, and we look forward to inviting these SME’s to make their home in Leeds, at Leeds Dock.”

Stuart Clarke added: “Media Yorkshire is committed to encouraging the growth of digital and creative companies in the region and we are delighted to be working with Leeds Dock. The new co-working spaces at Leeds Dock will be a key part of the future growth of the digital sector in Leeds.”

‘London to Leeds’ will feature Leeds Dock as one of the city’s newest enterprise spaces, as well as showing capital-based businesses around Leeds’ shops, restaurants and bars.

Media Yorkshire is a new organisation with the aim of connecting and supporting the growth of its members across the marketing and creative communities in the North, as well as championing the region as a place to do business.

Leeds Dock, which has seen Sky create its new tech hub onsite and recruit 400 new members of staff, continues to champion enterprise, culture and experience as it expands throughout 2016.

The site, which has just co-founded a new, independent restaurant/bar, Dock 29, will be running a host of activity in the run up to its complete launch in June, including hosting a series of talks with entrepreneurs, including Stuart Clarke co-founder of Media Yorkshire and Director of Leeds Digital Festival.

Michael Ingall, Chief Executive of Leeds Dock’s owner, Allied London, also commented: “We’re transforming Leeds Dock into a new enlivened part of the city and with our investment and vision it will be a place where collaboration, productivity and experience continue to thrive.”

Leeds Dock is on the South Bank providing workspace, food, drink and leisure opportunities in Leeds.
