Save money, do it yourself with lazy grace
The WordPress vs Bespoke website debate is lively conversation to have if you’re into that type of thing.
For anyone who doesn’t know - and you’d be forgiven for not knowing - WordPress is a template based web design solution for anyone to set up and launch a website with limited skills.
It is a free content management platform used to power a website. There are many pre-made design templates available to choose from, many of which are free. Because of the in-build CMS functionality of WordPress, you can do your own website updates for free.
We at lazy grace don’t build websites for customer using this platform. We feel that it is like being given a pair of size 6 shoes and then trying to squeeze your size 9 feet into them. Something’s got to give.
We always take the approach that we would rather build our clients a website that does exactly what they want it to do - and crucially, have the ability to add elements you need in the years to come. Instead of flogging you an “Out-of-the-box” type template option and knocking some bits together to make it work when in reality it will probably do 99 things you don’t want it to and the one thing you’re desperate for, it can’t do. It’s for this reason alone that we can stand by the websites we’ve created not just a year or two ago, but more than a decade!
However.
We do believe that WordPress has a very valid role for businesses looking to get themselves online for limited funds.
After all, not everyone can afford to get a Saville Row tailored suit, so sometimes Next has to do.
Because ultimately this type of template website is free, you shouldn’t have to pay someone to make it for you. Yes, they may talk the technobollocks talk and genuinely know the platform inside out, but with a bit of time, guidance and interest - you can design and launch your own site. This, to us anyway, is the whole point of WordPress.
So why are we telling you this?
Well, we’re running a workshop. It’s a workshop to teach you everything you need to know to get a WordPress website up and running then sit back and watch the oodles of dosh roll in. Ahem, that last bit may be a bit of a stretch, but you get the gist.
You don’t have to have ANY technical knowledge or capabilities - we’ll take you through everything you need to know, and as we’re keeping the groups nice and small then you’ll get our (almost) undivided attention throughout the process. Oh, and you’ll get a buffet lunch on each of the three days too.
For more information and to get yourself booked on, get yourelf to our website. There’s an early bird offer until midnight tonight, too. www.lazygrace.com/workshops/wordpress-workshop
