Ignite your passion for wildlife this half-term

Northumberland Wildlife Trust will be responsible for some wild goings-on around the region this half-term as the wildlife charity will be hosting wildlife activities aimed at children of all ages.

Love Wildlife, Northumberlandia, Saturday 13 February, 2:00pm - 4:00pm Show your love for wildlife this Valentine’s Day and learn how the region’s wildlife needs extra special care in the cold weather and get creative making bird feeders. Bring a loved one or come alone and meet like-minded nature lovers. Enjoy a Valentine’s mocktail. There is a £5.00 charge for this event and places must be booked on-line at www.nwt.org.uk/whats-on

Hauxley Reserve Open Day, Hauxley Nature Reserve, Druridge Bay, Sunday 14 February, 10:00am - 4:00pm Public open day on the site, see the plans and progress on the wildlife charity’s new visitor centre. Volunteers will also be making bird feeders to celebrate National Nest Box Week throughout the day. This event is suitable for both adults and children. No booking just drop in on the day.

Wildlife Week, Heighley Gate Garden Centre, Monday 15 February, 10:0am - 3:00pm Join the Trust for fun wildlife crafts, activities and to learn more about the conservation work we do across the region. Drop in any time during the day. Free event but donations are welcome.

Wicked Willow, Northumberlandia, Tuesday 16 February, 10:00am - Noon Come along to Northumberlandia to learn about this amazing plant and how to use it to create crowns, butterflies, fairy wings or a living willow sculpture. To build a living willow sculpture participants will need to bring a bucket and trowel along with them. Suitable for children aged 10 upwards. There is a £5.00 charge for this event and places must be booked on-line at www.nwt.org.uk/whats-on.

All about Birds, Northumberlandia, Thursday 18 February, 2:00pm - 4:00pm Find out what the birds are up to at this time of year, with fun hands-on activities to help you learn to identify different birds, crafts to learn about how birds build their nests and what they eat. Get something special to take home for the birds near your house! Suitable for 5 -12 year olds. There is a £5.00 charge for this event and places must be booked on-line at www.nwt.org.uk/whats-on

Animal Corner, Brockbushes Farm, Stocksfield, Thursday 18 February, 10:00am - 3:00pm Join the Trust at Brockbushes Farm to meet some animals and find out more about the native wildlife the charity protects across the region. Drop in any time during the day. Free event but donations are welcome.

I love wildlife, Old Low Light, North Shields, Friday 19 February and Saturday 20 February, 10:00am - 2:30pm Join us for hands on marine activities, including crafts and wildlife-themed games. Find out about the marine conservation carried out by the Trust’s Living Seas Team. Drop in at any time during the day. Standard admission applies and donations welcome for activities.

Pennine Falconry, Brockbushes Farm, Stocksfield, Sunday 21 February, 10:00am - 3:00pm Join Northumberland Wildlife Trust and meet some birds of prey and find out more about the native birds the Trust protects across the region. Drop in any time during the day. This is a free event but donations are welcome.

At all events children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
