Stockport training facility to expand and create jobs with six-figure funding

Stockport Training Engineering Association (SETA) has revamped the IT system and working environment at its Learning and Skills Academy with a new cash boost from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

SETA, which is located on Whitehill Industrial Estate in South Redditch, used the six-figure funding and working capital facilities to develop a new confined space training area and expand its parking facilities.

The organisation also plans to grow its staff base by recruiting three new lecturers.

Chief executive Russell Prince said: “SETA has evolved over the years and is now becoming a one stop shop in Greater Manchester and beyond for apprenticeships and also for individuals looking to train or re-train in the engineering industry.

“With all the changes underway, it’s an exciting time for us all here at SETA and the local community.”

Having provided technical and safety training for the last 50 years, SETA today employs 39 staff.

RBS relationship director Robert Taylor commented: “We have supported SETA and its management team since its inception as far back as 1966.

“It is really rewarding to see a local customer growing and investing in its future.”

He continued: “We wish Russell and his senior team all the best with the changes they are making to their Learning and Skills Academy and the benefits this will bring long-term to both SETA and the local community.”
