Wallsend’s CMR UK recognised at national awards
The commitment of a Wallsend manufacturer of instrumentation for industrial engines and marine systems to staff development has been recognised at a national level.
CMR UK based at Silverlink has been highly commended in the Developing People Award at the recent EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards held in London.
The award recognises those companies that have done the most to build skills, harness talent and develop their employees.
The news follows CMR scooping gold at last year’s North East event and cements the firm’s reputation for investing in its workforce to drive the business and secure growth.
The company, which employs 80 staff at its New York Way factory, was commended by a panel of business leaders, industry experts and academics, and achieved success in the face of tough competition from national businesses.
Maureen Jamieson, finance director at CMR UK, said: “Well done to all involved. This is a tremendous achievement that not only demonstrates our commitment to investing in people but also reinforces our reputation as an innovative, market leading company.”
Donna Warwick, HR advisor at CMR UK added: “We haven’t rested on our laurels since winning IIP Gold and continue to work on our learning and development strategy to upskill the workforce for maximum benefit to the team and the company.”
Carl D’Ammassa, group managing director - business finance at Aldermore, said: “Fostering and developing employees’ skills is essential to businesses’ future success and competitiveness – CMR have taken proactive and innovative steps to do this.
“They have proved themselves to be inspirational – their ambitions have been driven through hard work, dedication and a high focus on what their business wants to achieve. They deserve this recognition and we wish them every success in the future.”
