New £1.5m neighbourhood hub decision for Warrington due
Warrington Borough Council are to consider planning permission for a new neighbourhood hub to serve Bewsey and Dallam in Warrington.
Planning for the proposed hub, which is being submitted by LiveWire on behalf of the Delivering Wellbeing Project Board, will be looked at by the Borough Council’s planning committee on 24 February.
The new hub, which will be part-funded by the council, housing group Torus and wellbeing company Livewire, aims to address a range of health and wellbeing inequalities in the area with its hydrotherapy pool and health care facilities.
Planning approval is being sought for two phases of development. The first will see the construction of a fitness suite, studio, smart library, IT suites and community rooms due to open in 2017.
The second phase is dependent on further funding and will see the inclusion of a learner hydrotherapy pool and extra healthcare provision.
Emma Hutchinson, managing director of LiveWire and Culture Warrington, said: “LiveWire is proud to be submitting a planning application which is the result of much hard work from multi-agencies who are working together to improve facilities in Bewsey and Dallam.
“Our consultation exercises showed us that so many residents in the area are behind these plans to ensure they have a better health and wellbeing offer in their neighbourhoods.”
Steve Moore, Growth Director at Torus, added: “Torus is keen to be an active partner in the wide range of projects which are being delivered across Bewsey and Dallam.
“Our residents in the area will benefit from a fantastic neighbourhood hub facility which will provide resources and activities to all parts of the local community.
“Whilst we move ahead with our own plans for the development of new homes in the area, the hub will also play a key role in helping to transform the lives of local people.”
