Billingham’s Able UK extends lifting reach with new £175k grab

Billingham-based Able UK has acquired a new heavy duty dredging grab, following a £175k investment.

Part of the firm’s heavy equipment expansion drive, the industrial services company will use the 28 tonne grab in conjunction with its mobile harbour crane, based at Able Seaton Port on the Tees.

The business, which began life as a specialist in demolition processes, has now evolved into a multi-functional business, providing decommissioning and multi-user port services.

Supplied by mechanical grab manufacturer Verstegen, the hardware will further increase the versatility of the Leibherr LHM 600 mobile harbour crane, which has been operating at Able Seaton Port for the past two years.

Says Able UK Logistics Manager Mark Nixon “This latest acquisition further enhances the range of world-class state-of-the-art equipment available at our developments on the Tees and the Humber and which are also make available for hire.”

Other equipment in the Able fleet includes self-propelled modular transporters as well as rough terrain cranes, crawler cranes, earthmoving equipment and the largest self-propelled roller with compaction monitoring system.
