Tax relief and grants for manufacturing firms

MANUFACTURING companies in the region are being given the chance to find out more about the funding packages, grants and tax relief incentives available to them.

The Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) in partnership with Tait Walker is hosting a finance forum to highlight to employers in the North East what financial support they can access.

Businesses can learn more about the assistance available in areas including innovation, tooling, research and development and capital expenditure.

They can also find out about the tax relief incentives on offer and funding to access if they employ apprentices.

Alastair Wilson, tax partner at Tait Walker, is leading the event in conjunction with Jack Hanwell from the AMF.

He said: “This forum is particularly timely as some of our regional manufacturers are being hit by the downturn of the global oil and gas sector.

“There is also uncertainty among our employers with regard to Britain’s long term position within the EU, so I’m sure many will be keen to find out what additional support, be it a grant, financial assistance or tax relief, they can be tap into.”

Jack Hanwell, manager of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum, added: “We are responsive to the needs of our members and the North East’s manufacturing industry and we know funding support is always a hot topic.

“This forum is the ideal opportunity for employers to find out more about the help available to them, which could potentially enable them expand or break into new markets.”

The finance forum is being held on Wednesday, February 24, from 8am at Tait Waker’s offices at Bulman House in the Regent Centre, Newcastle, NE3 3LS.
