The science behind hypochlorous acid

The makers of 100% natural first aid spray NatraSan look into the science of hypochlorous acid and discuss the facts of this revolutionary product.

FACT OR FICTON?

Fact 1: This antiseptic, anti-viral and anti-fungal sanitising spray kills 99.9999% of germs, bacteria and viruses within seconds.

How does it work?

The active ingredient in NatraSan is hypochlorous acid, a very mild but powerful chemical produced by the human immune system to fight infection. Hypochlorous has evolved to kill microbes quickly - it oxidises germs, which means that it penetrates the outer layer of the germ cell and literally ‘blows it up’.

Fact 2: NatraSan is 300 times more effective than bleach but it is no more dangerous to human skin than water.

Why is it safe?

Because hypochlorous is a natural chemical that is produced by the human body it is safe to all human tissue, including young, old and sensitive skin, whilst causing almost instant death to germs. Rigorous laboratory tests have found it to be more effective than bleach for killing bacteria, with the added bonus of being natural and kind to skin.

How was NatraSan created?

Hypochlorous has been manufactured since the 1950s. However, no one had been able to produce a stable version that could be packaged and sold to consumers. The only organisations to benefit from this amazing product were large scale institutes such as hospitals that could install hypochlorous generators in order to manufacture their own.

The ‘holy grail’ was to find a way of stabilising hypochlorous so that it had full potency, an adequate shelf life and could be used safely by the public, healthcare institutions and businesses.

It took a team of very committed scientists and a pharmaceutical research budget to create NatraSan. It is an optimum strength stabilised hypochlorous solution with a proven shelf life of 12 months.

The proof behind the science

NatraSan is the first hypochlorous acid product available to the public that is fully compliant with European Biocidal product regulations EU 528 (2012). These stringent new regulations are designed to protect humans, animals and the environment.

NatraSan has been independently laboratory tested in UK laboratories and complies with British Standard/European Norm (BSEN) 1276 (bactericidal) BSEN 13697 (fungicidal) BSEN 14204 (virucidal) and BSEN 13704 (sporicidal).

NatraSan supplies its hypochlorous technology to many customers around the world including hospitals, healthcare companies, agricultural, supermarkets, schools and nurseries, as well as the public.

Robin Aspinall, Managing Director of NatraSan, says:

“The team of scientists have worked extremely hard to create this product and make it safe for consumers. The many uses of NatraSan, including sanitising surfaces and hands, cleaning and healing cuts and wounds, clearing up acne and athlete’s foot and killing bacteria that lurks on anything, plus our EU compliance, means that the public has total peace of mind and can be confident that it is entirely safe to use.”

NatraSan costs £10.00 for 250ml and £7.00 for 100ml - available at www.natrasanuk.com
