Academy that nurtured musical talents George Ezra and James Bay expands in Brighton

The British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) has continued its expansion with the move into new premises in Brighton.

The independent college, which has six sites spread across Brighton, London and Berlin amongst others, has made the move to new offices at 2 Bartholomews, in the Lanes area of Brighton.

Totalling 6,609 sq ft on the second floor, the new office space will house the college’s administrative team as it looks to cope with increasing demand from students wishing to study at the Institute.

Charles Blunt, head of estates at BIMM Brighton said: “We’ve seen a consistent rise in the number of students wanting to come to BIMM to begin their careers in music, and while we’ve invested heavily in our teaching facilities, we also needed to find a new home for our administrative staff, which has grown to accommodate the increased student numbers.

“2 Bartholomews is the perfect location, in the heart of the city, and gives us the room to grow further too. We’re delighted to have found our new home.”

Charles Warrack, head of office agency at Johnson Fellows who helped BIMM find their new offices, added: “Our brief from BIMM was to find high quality office space that could accommodate a growing team, but importantly no more than a mile from the Institute’s teaching facilities in the city centre. In a really competitive market, we’re delighted to have found such an ideal property in 2 Bartholomews.”

Past BIMM students include recent chart-toppers such as George Ezra, James Bay Tom Odell.
