Award win for ambitious Photo and Video Company
Whitley Bay based photographer and videographer Topher McGrillis has scooped the Photographic Excellence award at this weekends’ prestigious regional Royal Television Society Awards. Saturday nights’ event found Topher standing alongside the likes of Brenda Blethyn (Vera) and Elliott Kerrigan (Boy meets Girl, The Dumping Ground) to receive his award.
Topher McGrillis photography was borne out of an ambition to provide a more personal service to clients, telling their stories through photo and film with passion and understanding. Five years on from its inception, the company boasts a high-profile client list including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Northumbria University and SMEG.
The company has gone from strength to strength over the past 5 years and whilst maintaining a varied and interesting portfolio of photography work, as a self-shooting director with full editing capability, video production has continued to be a growth area too.
That said, Topher’s feet remain firmly on the ground describing himself as “a bit embarrassed” but “dead proud!” about his win. When asked about his inspiration and the breadth of his subjects Topher explains that “everything is interesting; finding that intrigue is inherent in what we do - it’s all in the way you convey the message.”
