Get involved: Bdaily Northern Powerhouse

What exactly is the Northern Powerhouse?

Indeed, the question on everyone’s lips at present. Whilst many North Easterners may able to recite promises of increased productivity, devolution and better transport links, varied interpretation prevails in the region when we really try to define the Northern Powerhouse’s meaning.

How can we achieve this? Where do we fit in? Are things being done properly?

Come May, two years will have passed since Chancellor George Osborne first spoke of the need for ‘building a Northern Powerhouse’.

Whilst awareness of the phrase has of course increased during this time, growing consciousness has not necessarily produced greater understanding of what the Northern Powerhouse actually is.

Here at Bdaily, we wish to increase North East understanding of what ‘powerhouse’ means for our people and businesses.

So what’s new at Bdaily?

We’ve put together some handy site improvements to make it easier for you to stay up to date with all things NP. We have a new page dedicated to the topic, which features all the latest news, opinion and advice in relation to the Northern Powerhouse. This can be viewed here and will look like the below image.

You’ll also see a new addition to our homepage and article pages. Click the line of text to jump straight to this page.

Members can get involved too. Simply click the ‘northern-powerhouse’ tag to have your article included in the page.

How can I get involved?

We’re also launching a new interview series, beginning today with Dr Stan Higgins, where we are surveying the region’s business leaders to find out what the powerhouse means to them.

As well as this, we’re also taking comments from North East businesses who wish to share their predictions and aspirations for the Budget, set to be announced on March 16.
