Leeds Charity Scores 'King Kev' As Guest Speaker

BUSINESSES and rugby league fans can now reserve tickets for an exclusive fundraising lunch with Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield, on behalf of longstanding Leeds charity St George’s Crypt.

The event is being held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds on Friday 15th April 2016 and more than half of the 250 places available, have already been reserved. Tickets are priced at £55 each, or tables of 10 can be reserved for £500, which includes a two course lunch followed by a 90 minute question and answer session with Sinfield.

The 35 year old played his entire professional career with Leeds Rhinos and captained both club and country, as well as winning three back to back Super League titles, before retiring last year and switching to rugby union, playing for Yorkshire Carnegie.

He also finished as runner-up in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015 behind Andy Murray, becoming the first rugby league player to ever be nominated in the 61-year history of the event and finishing ahead of the likes of Jessica Ennis-Hill, Lewis Hamilton, Chris Froome and Mo Farah.

Martin Patterson from St George’s Crypt, says: “This promises to be a fantastic event which will offer a fascinating insight into Kevin Sinfield’s amazing career, which saw him join Leeds Rhinos at 13 years of age and then become one of the sport’s greatest ever players. With just 25 tables of 10 available, it will be an intimate event and we would urge local businesses and rugby league fans to reserve places sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.”

Sinfield says: “I’ve always enjoyed a huge level of support from the people of Leeds throughout my career and St George’s Crypt does a superb job, helping vulnerable people across the city and beyond, so it’s an honour to be hosting this event with the charity.”

St George’s Crypt is based within the thriving church of St George’s in Leeds and has been at the frontline of support for homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Leeds and its surrounding areas since 1930.

The event starts at 12noon, with lunch served at 1pm and Sinfield’s Q&A will run from 2.30pm. Anyone wanting to reserve tickets should call Martin Patterson on 07825 150 586 or email Martin.Patterson@stgeorgescrypt.org.uk.
