Woking’s Victoria Square begins hunt for ‘leading hotel brand’

The new Victoria Square mixed-used development in Woking is hunting for a hotel operator to take charge of the 190-bed four-star hotels that form a central part of the new site.

Bandstand Square Developments Limited (BSDL), the joint venture between Moyallen, Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council, have appointed hospitality advisor JLL Hotels and Hospitality to lead the search for a suitable operator.

The site, which sits to the west of Wolsey Place shopping centre, also includes 125,000 sq ft of new retail floorspace, 392 residential apartments spread across two towers of 30 and 34 storeys and two public plazas.

BSDL secured detailed planning permission for the site last year, with work set to begin in 2017 ahead of the planned completion date in 2020.

Peter Robinson, Managing Director of Moyallen, commented: “We are delighted to be working with JLL to secure a new hotel brand for Woking. This prestigious development is an excellent opportunity for a leading hotel brand to secure a flagship site in one of the most rapidly developing towns in the UK.”

Matt Lederer, Vice President at JLL Hotels and Hospitality, added: “This is a great instruction for JLL. This is an opportunity to operate a hotel in not just a fast growing town with a very strong business base, but one that serves central London and its two principal airports. We are confident that there will be substantial demand from leading hotel operators.”
