Marketors leap into good causes

The Worshipful Company of Marketors, ‘The Marketors’, is taking advantage of the extra day in February this leap year with its Outreach Day initiative. The livery company is challenging its members to work for free on Monday 29 February for a worthy charity.

The initiative is in keeping with The Marketors’ theme for 2016 — Marketing for Good is Good Marketing. The theme was developed to inspire the organisation’s philanthropic efforts and highlight the importance of sustainability in today’s business environment.

David Pearson, Master, The Marketors, said: “The 29 February is an ‘extra’ day so why not give it away in helping others with pro bono work? Our Outreach Day on 29 February is a unique initiative that really demonstrates our commitment to giving back. As an organisation we are focused on developing the communities in which we live and work by donating our time, expertise and funding. This includes programmes such as awarding bursaries, helping organisations with pro bono marketing advice, skills sharing and mentoring.”

As part of the Marketors’ Outreach programme, the Master Marketor, David Pearson, has been mentoring Sarah Wade, founder of the children’s charity, Humanitas.

On 29 February Pearson and a small team of fellow Marketors will be providing a free day of marketing and PR advice to Humanitas. Pearson is hosting a brainstorming workshop in his home with five other Marketors, all with differing areas of specialist skills, together with Wade and three of her team. The objective is to see how they can raise the performance and fundraising efforts of this charity.

Humanitas was founded by Wade when she was still at school. She was concerned about children who were abandoned by their parents in Romanian orphanages. Now the charity works in a number of countries living up to its belief that every child is entitled to healthcare, an education and a family. It strives to provide children across the globe with these three key rights.
