New music platform to help aspiring artists distribute music on Spotify and Youtube
London-based digital technology company Milestone Group plc has launched a new music publishing platform that aims to help aspiring artists get recognised.
Black Cactus Music, launched under the firm’s Nexstar joint venture, is a global music cloud platform that allows artists to share, distribute and sell music directly from their websites, as well as offering distribution on all the major platforms such as Spotify, Google Music and iTunes.
The platform also offers artists concerts and event ticketing and promotion, merchandising, video distribution and social media analytics.
Artists must pay a one-time setup fee of £500 to access the platform, while Nexstar will take a cut of revenue from various sources including a revenue share of between 25-30% per transaction.
Lawrence Cummins, Nexstar Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Black Cactus Music was designed to put the artists in control of their brand, their art and their business. It is the perfect example of our commitment to providing our users with all of the tools they need to make their dreams a reality online.
“Black Cactus gives musicians an all-in-one technology solution for all aspects of their business from building a stunning website and engaging their fans to selling their music, all while keeping 100% of the profits from their art.”
Deborah White, Chief Executive Officer of Milestone, added: “The addition of a publishing service to the existing suite of functionality is a natural progression for Nexstar. This service offers an exciting commercial opportunity for the Company that also compliments the Passion Project’s offering for young people.”
