Godfrey Syrett win exclusive rights to award-winning seating range
A North East furniture manufacturer has fought off tough competition from three of its major national competitors to secure the exclusive rights to sell an award-winning seating range in the UK.
Godfrey Syrett has been selected by The Twins Group to manufacture and sell the Italian-designed soft seating range, which has just been launched across worldwide markets including Europe, North & South America, the Middle East & Australia.
The new seating range, which has been named ‘Mr Jones’ for the UK market, comprises a lounge chair, two-seater sofa, swivel chair and pouf. His extended family includes a series of modular units that allow for large scale, creative soft seating layouts, making it ideal for multiple interior spaces, from contract office to large public, atrium and reception areas.
Its distinctive design has won awards in France, Germany, Italy and the USA, most recently receiving an iF (International Forum) product design award.
Neil Tweddle, managing director of Godfrey Syrett said: “This is a significant and exciting win for Godfrey Syrett. Mr Jones received an extremely high level of interest from across the UK furniture market after being displayed at the major European furniture exhibition in Cologne, Germany last year, so we are delighted to have won full UK exclusivity.”
The firm says it won the exclusive distribution rights due to its manufacturing capabilities, and in particular it’s upholstering expertise, following investment and expansion within its upholstery department.
Mr Tweddle added: “Mr Jones is a fully upholstered, moulded seating range that requires a high level of manufacturing skill. We have recently expanded our upholstery department, recruiting three new upholsterers and a full training programme has been rolled out within the department including the training of two apprentices.”
To introduce the product to the North East market, Godfrey Syrett has launched a social media campaign capturing Mr Jones on tour visiting some of the region’s most well-known places including the Angel of the North, Grey’s monument and Newcastle’s quayside.
