Work underway on 54 new Linden Homes properties in Oldham

Housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships has begun work on the St Augustine’s development in Oldham.

The firm, which markets properties under the Linden Homes brand, held a groundbreaking ceremony this week (March 16) to mark the beginning of construction efforts on the former school site.

Oldham Council leader Cllr Jean Stretton and a number of others were given a tour of the 4.4-acre site, which will provide 54 new homes once work is complete.

Galliford Try Partnerships’ regional director, Brendan Blythe, said: “Breaking the ground at St Augustine’s takes us one step closer to our ultimate goal, delivering quality homes for local professionals or growing families in this popular area of Greater Manchester.

“Since we acquired the site from Oldham Council we have had lots of interest and we are very optimistic about the success of this site, our first in Oldham.”

The properties – a mix of three- and four-bed detached and semi-detached homes – will start from £175k.

Oldham Council’s Cllr Jean Stretton commented: “As soon as St Augustine’s was demolished we started looking for a development partner that wanted to work with us and create a neighbourhood where people want to live.

“So we are delighted to have Galliford Try Partnerships and Linden Homes on board as their plans for this site will not only enhance the area but create much-needed family homes.”

She added: “The firm is also committed to supporting our Get Oldham Working initiative by providing jobs, work experience, training and other community benefits targeted at people living in the local area, so they will also be helping the local economy to grow.”
