Hartlepool’s Gus Robinson to begin work on £4.8m Newcastle Great Park scheme
Hartlepool-based Gus Robinson Developments is set to start work on a £4.8m scheme in Newcastle Great Park later this month.
The construction firm will build a total of 38 two-bedroom apartments on the site, in a project estimated to take 12 months to complete.
Work originally started on Great Park back in 2001 and since then more than 1,500 homes have been built along with a new school, an office complex and community sports facilities.
The project is the firm’s biggest to date and will keep it on course to reach a turnover in excess of £20m by March 2017.
Steve Bell, Managing Director at Gus Robinson Developments, said: “This is the biggest scheme we have done to date, and we were delighted when we got the news that we were the preferred developer.
“It is quite a big project as the apartments are being created above retail units. Over the years, Gus Robinson Developments have carried out a wide variety of commercial construction projects, many of them being in the retail sector.”
Working on behalf of social housing provider Benicia Homes, Gus Robinson will get the development underway later this month.
Steve added: “It is only over the last five years that we have been involved in building affordable housing. This is the first time we have been able to showcase both parts of the business within the same project and the whole of the team are looking forward to seeing the scheme progress.”
