Owen Pugh wins £1.1m contract to work on Newcastle housing scheme
North East Civil Engineering firm Owen Pugh has secured a £1.1m contract to undertake infrastructure work on a housing scheme in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The company will install roads and sewers, as well as construct plot works, at the site of 37 affordable new homes in Cypress Avenue, Fenham, working on behalf of Gentoo Homes.
The works, which will take around 12 months to complete and will involve an average of 10 Owen Pugh operatives, also involves hardscaping work including paving and road surfacing.
This is the first time that Owen Pugh has delivered civil engineering services on behalf of Gentoo and negotiations are currently underway about future opportunities.
The Calderstone development is situated in Fenham, just 2.5 miles west of Newcastle City Centre. It comprises of a mixture of two, three and four bedroom properties aimed at first time buyers and the affordable family market with prices starting from just £155,950.

“This is the first contract we’ve undertaken on behalf of Gentoo Homes and it’s a real coup to have been recognised as a preferred supplier. This is a significant piece of work for the GDC team and one which we are well placed to deliver.”
