Desire to “buy British” drives UKFast revenue

Tech revenues continue to soar in cloud infrastructure firm UKFast as a £5 million increase in recurring revenue in 2015 takes overall revenue to £34.3 million.

The leading Manchester technology brand, led by CEO Lawrence Jones MBE, celebrates 16 years of consecutive growth, adding more than £10 million recurring revenue in two years.

Jones said: “The last year has been the most exciting year of our 16 so far. We’ve added more big brands and enterprise clients than ever before. A particular highlight for me was winning the account with JCB. They are an iconic British business, a unique ‘stand out’ brand and one I am tremendously proud to host.

“There’s an increase in people wanting a higher level of bespoke support and a definite move away from ‘auto-pilot decision-making’ that used to see companies favouring the biggest US hosting providers. Biggest does not mean best when it comes to delivery of very complex solutions that require huge attention to detail and we’re seeing that reflected in the clients coming to UKFast.”

December saw UKFast announce that revenue for its eCloud range grew by 82.9% between 2014 and 2015, contributing to 18% overall growth in 2015. Jones claims the skyrocketing popularity of UK-based cloud products will deliver even more impressive results for his firm in the coming year.

He said: “We are seeing a clear and definite move towards British businesses buying from British businesses. The looming economic crisis in China is making people nervous and I believe people across the globe are buying more locally to reduce their exposure.

“We’ve spent the last year investing in our team and our infrastructure. We are in an incredibly strong position now with the resource we’ve added and the coming year is set to be our most productive to date.”

UKFast recently announced the launch of its latest product, eCloud Flex, offering UK-based OpenStack cloud at a lower cost than US rival AWS.
