Liverpool tourism offer boosted with launch of £1.5m Mattel Play! attraction

Heritage Great Britain PLC, the North West-based attraction operator, has launched its £1.5m family entertainment centre in Liverpool.

The 13,000 sq ft Mattel Play! Liverpool attraction was officially opened this week by children’s TV personalities Jen Pringle and Olivia Birchenough, who present the Channel Five programme Milkshake.

Located at the city’s historic Albert Dock, the centre, which created 25 jobs, also includes a café, party rooms and a retail area.

Heritage Great Britain’s CEO, Allan Leech, said: “The response during the build-up and since launch has been quite overwhelming.

“After months of planning and preparation, we’re delighted to reveal this new concept which is a first for Liverpool.”

He continued: “Everyone’s pulled together to make this happen and we’re grateful to all our city region partners, local contractors and suppliers, and to Lappset Creative who built the attraction.

“Thanks also to our partners Mattel who’ve been incredibly supportive throughout.”

In addition to Mattel Play! Liverpool, Heritage Great Britain owns and operates a number of UK tourist attractions, including Land’s End and Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Speaking further, Allan said he considers the Liverpool City Region to be one of Europe’s “fastest growing tourism and leisure destinations”.

He added: “This gave us the confidence to deliver the first Mattel Play! and to consider the area in any future plans.”
