50 new jobs up for grabs as BT launches South Tyneside recruitment drive
BT is launching a North East recruitment drive as it plans to bolster its South Shields base with 50 new roles.
Holding two open days at its Harton Quay premises, the telecommunications giant is looking to mainly fill sales and customer service roles. Recruiters at BT are reportedly keen to attract applicants from across both South Tyneside and the wider region.
Farooq Hakim, BT’s regional director for the North East, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking for a secure, well-paid and flexible job with long term career prospects and excellent training in one of the UK’s top companies.
“Our Harton Quay building is a vibrant place to work with a great atmosphere. There is always something going on – we’ve had visits from the Champions League Trophy and its security team, gold medal-winning Paralympians and, most recently, Jake Humphrey. We also regularly hold fundraising events in support of telethons such as Children in Need and Sport Relief.”
The two open days will be held at the South Shields site on Wednesday March 30, 6.20-8.00pm and on Saturday April 2 between 2.20pm and 4.00pm.
This latest recruitment will expand BT’s involvement in the regeneration of South Tyneside, which is centered on the BT South Tyneside strategic partnership between BT and South Tyneside Council.
Councillor Iain Malcolm, leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with BT to bring another 50 jobs to the Borough.
“I would urge local residents interested in exploring options further to come to the job fairs and find out more. The new recruits will work in mainly sales and customer service roles. South Tyneside Council is committed to helping create jobs and opportunities for people across the Borough and wider region.”
