Grant making group receives grant of its own
A London charity that makes grants to groups and individuals across the UK has itself received a grant of £1,000 from a leading UK housebuilder.
The Percy Bilton Charity has been selected by Persimmon Homes North London under its on-going Community Champions Scheme, in which charities and groups can secure funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
In its first year, Persimmon Homes donated a total of £750,000 nationwide, and it has now been announced that the scheme is to be continued for another year.
Tara Smith, administrator at the charity, said: “This award from Persimmon Homes North London is fantastic news.
“The Percy Bilton Charity supports young people at risk, people with disabilities or mental health problems and disadvantaged older people across the UK. The match funding will enable us to provide more of them with the vital equipment and furnishings they need to improve their lives.”
The charity was founded in 1962 by the late Percy Bilton for exclusively charitable purposes. Distributions are mainly in areas relating to older people, the disabled and children and young people who are socially or educationally disadvantaged or underprivileged.
Greg Kaye, head of sales for Persimmon Homes North London, said: “We are delighted to announce that The Percy Bilton Charity is our latest Community Champion.
“We are confident that our donation will enable the charity to continue its superb work making such a difference to the lives of so many disadvantaged or disabled people.
“Persimmon Homes North London has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and I would like to take this opportunity to stress that if applicants were unsuccessful last month, they can visit the Persimmon Homes website and try again.”
