Liverpool airport gears up for busy Easter with new airlines and additional routes
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is preparing to welcome an increased number of passengers over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
The facility is expecting to see more than 60k people passing through its terminals during the course of the four-day weekend, a year-on-year increase of 15%.
According to data, passenger figures at LJLA are already up 20% so far in 2016, in comparison to the same period last year.
New routes being introduced over the next few days include Hungarian carrier Wizz Air’s services to Budapest and Katowice, Czech Airlines’ Prague route and Blue Air’s flights to Bacau.
Additionally, Spanish airline Vueling is launching services at LJLA for the first time with its new service to Barcelona.
Elsewhere, Ryanair and easyJet have ramped the number of flights on offer to destinations such as Pisa, Malaga and Faro.
The airport’s head of public relations, Robin Tudor, said: “The Easter Bank Holiday long weekend is traditionally the first busy period of the year and again coincides with the start of the busier Summer schedules.
“This year we also have a number of new services starting and expect the increases in passenger numbers that we have experienced here consistently over the past 12 months to make this our busiest Easter for some time.”
