Firms Work Together For An Environmentally Friendly Future
An up and coming local company based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, has collaborated with a long established North East renewables company in order to improve and create a sustainable future for their rapidly growing business.
BTS Fabrications located on Newton Aycliffe Industrial estate have been established for 7 years. They specialise in producing a high end range of fabrication materials for well known household names including ASDA, the BBC and Costa Coffee. With the business growing from strength to strength with turnover predicted to reach over £5.5 million this year from £330k, the company were faced with on going issues regarding the heating of their Aycliffe site with costs increasing.
Managing Director, Phil Atkinson said “With the business growing and the work force rapidly expanding, the rise in our heating bills was extortionate and the factory was never warm for the staff. After doing our research I came across another local and similarly family run business who could provide a cost effective solution, but also a solution that was sustainable and environmentally friendly”.
Phil and his wife Marcy who are from County Durham made the decision to work with D & J Franks Renewables Ltd who are a Durham and Newton Aycliffe based company and have been established for over 40 years by David Franks.
The company worked with D & J Franks and had a state of the art Biomass Heating Installation, which through the Government’s Renewable Heating Incentive will offer favourable returns for their business. The project is predicted to save the business substantial amounts on their fuel bills and over the next 20 years they can enjoy an estimated revenue in excess of over £400,000.
Marcy Atkinson said “It’s been a great opportunity to save money as well as a great way to make the business environmentally friendly. Through the added revenue stream we are now able to continue growing the business and create more employment opportunities for local people. D & J Franks Renewables are local, reputable and a long established company. Right from the first meeting with the MD, David Franks, we had reassurance things would be done correctly and have the confidence to look at this type of installation again in any future growth – and even as a domestic biomass installation option for our own home!”
