intu Trafford Centre set for £8m Spring investment

intu Trafford Centre, the UK’s second biggest retail complex, is gearing up for over £8m of investment from retailers.

More than 10 fashion, catering, toy and homeware brands are either refurbishing their existing units or launching new operations at the site this spring.

In March, fashion retailer Zara opened its new 32,000 sq ft flagship store for the 31m people heading to the Trafford Centre each year, expanding on its original shop by 14,000 sq ft and introducing a wider product range.

Elsewhere, Zara owner Inditex revealed plans to increase investment in its other fashion brands at intu Trafford Centre, including Pull & Bear and Stradivarius. The Spanish multinational likewise plans to invest in its Zara Home store.

April will see the launch of a new branch for toy retailer Build-a-Bear, while All Bar One will open for business at the centre’s main food court to be followed by a standalone Michael Kors site in the summer.

The complex’s general manager, Richard Paxton, said: “intu Trafford Centre continues to attract the best new retailers and significant investment from existing tenants.

“There’s been major changes to some of our most popular retailers and we can’t wait to reveal the new-look stores to our shoppers before the year is out.”

Already this season, retailers Reiss, Scotts Foot Locker, Schuh – all of which are based in intu Trafford Centre’s Regent Crescent area – have revealed new-look stores.
