Redcar opening already paying dividends for growing North East chartered accountants

Chartered accountancy firm M Wasley Chapman & Co has opened its sixth office in Redcar, based in UK Steel Enterprise’s Innovation Centre on the Kirkleatham Business Park.

The firm, which employs around 40 people, provides financial advice and works closely with clients from startup businesses and sole traders, to SMEs and major corporate companies.

Six of the other tenants based at the Innovation Centre are now clients of the company, following its move.

Sue Kirk of UK Steel Enterprise, the Tata Steel subsidiary that supports businesses with finance and premises, said: “We are pleased that Wasley Chapman chose our Innovation Centre for their sixth office.

“We have more than 40 businesses based here and our tenants value being part of a supportive community, often using each other’s services, so Wasley Chapman gained six new clients in quite a short space of time.”

Philip Cuthbert, Partner at M Wasley Chapman & Co, said: “We wanted to be able to provide advice and support on the ground to our Redcar clients. We are already recruiting again as we expect further expansion this year. We are very committed to training too and each of our offices usually has at least two trainees.”

“I came back to Teesside due to my passion for the area and I think our faith in the North East and Yorkshire is well-founded as the rising demand for our services demonstrates a good level of business activity.

“We work with all sizes of business but smaller companies in particular, who perhaps don’t have an in-house finance director, often need the expertise that we can bring to their team.”

He added: “The Innovation Centre has proved to be a great choice with all the space, facilities and parking we need as well as a supportive UK Steel Enterprise team on hand.”

Initially established in Whitby in 1918, M Wasley Chapman & Co has offices in Middlesbrough, Scarborough, Guisborough and Saltburn.
