Accountants bring in the money for local hospice

Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope is to receive a Spring windfall of almost £2,000 thanks to the fundraising activities of one West-Yorkshire based accountancy team.

Wintersgill Associates, a chartered accountants and business advisory company located in Ilkley, has come up with a novel way of raising funds for its chosen charity, the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

For each tax return completed for the last financial year, Wintersgill Associates has donated £10 to the hospice which cares for people aged 18 and over dying from conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. By encouraging clients to also contribute towards its charitable scheme, the team exceeded its target of £1,500 to raise an impressive £1,780.

Carly Brunskill, hospice fundraiser at Manorlands said: “We really appreciate the effort and generosity that Wintersgill Associates has shown in raising this fantastic donation for the hospice. They’ve found a really effective and inventive way to raise a huge amount of money for this worthwhile cause. This great amount will help us to continue providing incredible care to our patients and their families. It costs £2.9 million each year to run the hospice and £1.6 million of that we have to raise through voluntary donations.”

Paul Wintersgill, managing director of Wintersgill Associates, added: “We’re a creative company and we wanted to demonstrate that by finding an innovative way of raising money for our nominated charity. Donating £10 for every tax return we completed on behalf of our clients allowed us to use our financial flair to raise funds for Manorlands.”

Wintersgill Associates, was recently named Best Professional Services Business at the Ilkley Business Awards and has just moved to new premises on Brook Street in Ilkley to accommodate its expanding team.

Paul added: “The last 12 months have been incredibly exciting and prosperous for us, so we’re thrilled to be able to share that with Manorlands Hospice which does such amazing work in the community.
