The Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham.

Approval secured for next phase of Rotherham’s Advanced Manufacturing Park

Planning permission has been granted to Harworth Estates, the UK property regeneration company wholly owned by Harworth Group plc, for the next phase of the Advanced Manufacturing Park at Waverley, Rotherham.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Planning Committee gave unanimous consent for three new employment units totalling 73,000 sq ft, along with associated utilities and infrastructure works, on Harworth’s land towards the West of the site.

The development, called ‘R-evolution Phase 2 @ The AMP’, will deliver floorspace aimed at high-value advanced manufacturers.

Floorspace for the consented units range from 21,000 to 26,000 sq. ft. The consented plans include the ability for eventual occupiers to sub-divide the units as necessary to increase their flexibility.

The AMP houses businesses that provide technology solutions for use in precision industries including aerospace, defence, construction, automotive, sport and others.

Boeing, Rolls Royce, the University of Sheffield, Castings Technology International (CTI), Dormer Tools, Sandvik Coromant and TWI are all located at the park.

Demand for further space has led to Harworth bringing forward this next phase and signals the company’s next wave of investment in Rotherham, following its £2.2m purchase of the nearby 20,000 sq. ft Sanderson House office building at the start of March.

Duncan Armstrong-Payne, development manager for Waverley at Harworth Estates, said: “The success of Phase 1 of R-evolution and our commitment to investing in Rotherham made this scheme the natural choice to bring forward. Our focus is now on fully preparing the site, ready for either freehold or leasehold interest from businesses wanting to be part of the AMP’s success.”

The scheme will now be marketed by jointly appointed agents Knight Frank and Gent Visick.

Rebecca Schofield, partner at Knight Frank’s Sheffield office, added: “We are witnessing good levels of demand from occupiers looking for space on the Advanced Manufacturing Park. R-evolution 2 offers flexibility to accommodate requirements from 5,000 to 26,000 sq ft and we are confident that the scheme will prove successful.”

‘R-evolution Phase 2 @ The AMP’ is located at Harworth’s Waverley site, which is being transformed into Yorkshire’s largest-ever mixed-use development. The 740-acre development comprises the 150 acre AMP and a new community that will eventually comprise 4,000 homes along with shops, restaurants, schools, leisure & community facilities and parks.
