Albany Assistance announces 2016 nominated charity

Completing their search for a nominated local charity, Peterlee based Albany Assistance have officially announced their winner – Hartlepool and District Hospice.

To mark the announcement and coinciding with Hartlepool and District Hospice’s Purple Week, Albany Assistance held their own Wear-Something-Purple-Day to raise funds and sell official merchandise to staff. This initial fundraiser saw Albany Assistance raise £458.46, with over 150 Hospice ribbons sold.

Alexandra Chapman, Marketing Assistant at Albany Assistance said; “We’re delighted to announce that Hartlepool and District Hospice have been chosen to be our 2016 Local Charity. After the success of our Wear-Something-Purple-Day we can’t wait to continue the good work throughout the year.”

Albany Assistance staff voted for their nominated charity in an in-house poll, choosing Hartlepool and District Hospice from a selection of 12 local charities that came forward for consideration. The plan is to support the charity with fundraising days, as well as collections tins and merchandise available at their Peterlee contact centre.

Greg Hildreth, Events Fundraiser for Hartlepool & District Hospice commented on the announcement; “We’re overjoyed to hear that the team at Albany Assistance chose to support the Hospice throughout 2016. Their contribution to Purple Week has been fantastic and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved. Every penny donated will be used to fund the specialist care services we provide free of charge to patients and families affected by life limiting illnesses.”

Hartlepool & District Hospice exists to ensure people affected by life limiting illnesses or the death of a loved one have the care, comfort and support they need. They offer a range of specialist palliative care and support services to individuals with complex needs and their families at their time of need. As the only adult Hospice in the Hartlepool and East Durham area, their unique range of services make a vital difference to the lives of thousands of families each year.

Albany Assistance plan to post details of their fundraising activities on social media with event photographs and a rolling total to show how much has been collected.
