Recruitment consultancy de Poel secures Mencap contract extension

Mencap, the UK’s leading learning disability charity, has awarded a contract extension to de Poel health+care, the 15-year established neutral vendor expert in managing the supply of temporary staff to the NHS and private health care sector.

There are 1.4 million people with a learning disability in the UK. Mencap work in partnership with people with a learning disability and exist to change laws and services, challenge prejudice and directly support thousands of people to live their lives as they choose.

As a specialist healthcare division of de Poel, de Poel health+care acts as an intermediary sitting between its client organisations and a select panel of compliant agencies. Through pioneering technology and a transparent approach, the de Poel health+care solution continuously adds value, reduces costs and improves standards.

Mencap’s decision to enter into a new contract extends de Poel’s services for a further year at the end of the contract period, taking the partnership long into 2017.

Originally partnering in 2010, under the renewed £4.5m agreement, de Poel will deliver more than 350,000 hours worked by Mencap’s temporary workforce. This builds on the £4.2m agency staffing spend delivered by de Poel in 2015 alone, procuring temporary workers to provide frontline care to Mencap’s national network of residential/day care services and leisure groups.

de Poel will also continue to support Mencap in capturing further areas of their agency staffing spend which were historically out of scope.

Andrew Preston, Group Managing Director of de Poel, commented: “It is fantastic to be working with Mencap, offering the very best temporary staffing solutions to provide the highest-level of care and support to its network of more than 500 affiliated groups.

“We are delighted they have decided to extend the six-year contract for a further year, solely entrusting us with their temporary staffing provision.”

Rob Walker, Head of Resourcing at Mencap, added: “For Mencap’s support services, our focus is to ensure we empower people with a learning disability to live life as they choose. Our ethos has always been underpinned by working with people who share our values and who we trust to deliver excellent care.

“For the last five years, our partnership with de Poel health+care has been successful as they really understand our organisation and share an aligned vision. We look forward to building on our partnership even further.”
