Hunsingore new homes development receives approval
Housebuilder Loxley Homes, part of Leeds-based Prospect Property Group, is to build a development of new homes in the North Yorkshire village of Hunsingore.
The new housing development, which was approved by Harrogate Borough Council, is located close to the A1 between Knaresborough and Wetherby.
The scheme of residential properties will transform the brownfield land, which was formerly the site of the ‘Goughs of Hunsingore’ farm machinery dealership.
Work is expected to start on the scheme in June, with completion due by March 2017.
Each of the detached and individually designed properties will have either two, three or four bedrooms.
James Elliot of Aspect Architecture, which designed the scheme, said: “As in most rural areas there is a desperate shortage of housing around Hunsingore, with some locals having to move away from the village because of the scarcity of housing.
“This scheme will help to meet that shortfall and the houses have been sensitively designed to fit in with the village and its surroundings.”
Jonathan Raistrick, Loxley Homes projects director, added: “It’s great news that the site where the well known Goughs family business sold farm machinery for three generations, now has a positive new future as an asset to the local area, providing new family homes for generations to come.”
