Preston-based Barton Grange Hotel takes steps to upskill workforce

Lancashire’s Barton Grange Hotel is this month teaming up with staff development business Cedar Training to upskill its workforce.

The Preston-based hotel is working with Cedar to offer improved management and staff development opportunities through a 12-month training programme, in addition to opening up eight new places on its two-year hospitality graduate training scheme.

Daniel Rich, Barton Grange Hotel’s general manager, said: “It’s vitally important that as an independent hotel we invest in developing our teams, offering them continual training programmes that enhance their skills.

“We passionately believe in training our workforce and ensuring they progress through the ranks, allowing us to retain their skills and experience for many years whilst constantly setting the individual new goals and opportunities to develop.”

Speaking further, Daniel said he believes the investment will improve staff morale and motivation, potentially increasing Barton Grange Hotel’s appeal for prospective employees.

He added: “It is here that an independent hotel can outshine brand competitors.”

As part of the programme, the hotel’s existing managers and supervisors will learn about communication, staff development and leadership.
