Consent granted for 79 new homes in Petersfield

Planners have given the green light to 79 new homes in Petersfield.

Work on the Larcombe Road site is due to commence in the coming months, following detailed planning approval granted by South Downs National Park planning committee.

Tracey Wardell, senior land buyer for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “This site was allocated for housing in the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan and so we are pleased to have achieved planning approval for development, after close liaison with the local authority and other consultees.

“The properties have been carefully designed to reflect the architectural character of the neighbourhood and will bring much-needed new homes to this popular market town.”

The development, to be known as Stanbridge Meadows, will be a mix of private and affordable housing to include one bedroom apartments as well as two, three and four bedroom houses.

Tracey added: “We will also be making significant contributions towards the expansion of Herne Junior School and improvement works at Petersfield Festival Hall, a multi-purpose facility used by many different community organisations.”

Potential buyers are invited to register their interest in the homes via the Persimmon Homes website – http://www.persimmonhomes.com/stanbridge-meadows-10632 – to be first to find out when properties are released for sale.

The Government estimates around 300,000 new homes need to be built each year to meet the demand that has grown since the economic downturn of 2008. It has put in place a raft of measures, such as a review of planning regulations, providing finance for large-scale infrastructure projects and helping individuals to access affordable mortgages through schemes like Help To Buy.

Persimmon Homes South Coast creates new homes throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

The company also operates a Community Champions match-funding scheme, making two donations of up to £1,000 every month to local groups, charities or organisations that improve the areas in which Persimmon builds. For more information visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
