Foundation ball is a complete sell-out
A CHARITY which was set up to inspire young people through education and training is poised to hopefully raise thousands of pounds after its inaugural fundraising event sold out.
The Gus Robinson Foundation is holding its May Ball, which is a black tie event, on Saturday, May 21, at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield.
The event will include live music from Quadrophonic and amongst other activities, an auction which offers the opportunity to bid for a signed England shirt from Paul Gascoigne, a 5-star cottage weekend break, a flying experience and VIP concert tickets.
Judith Robinson, Foundation Trustee, is chairing the Committee she put together to organise the event and is delighted at the fact it has proved to be so popular.
She said: “We are delighted to be able to say it is now a complete sell-out.
“We have been absolutely amazed by the amount of goodwill shown by people towards the Foundation and we hope to be able to raise thousands of pounds; every penny raised fropm this event will benefit local youngsters”
The Gus Robinson Foundation works closely with Hartlepool College of Further Education and other partnership organisations to offer bursaries, scholarships, cadetships and awards to local youngsters – all with the aim of creating incentive, raising aspiration, assisting achievement and producing positive role models.
Michael Bretherick, the Foundation’s Chairman, is delighted by the positive response to the first fund-raising event the Foundation has organised.
He said: “The trustees are over-whelmed by the volume of support from local businesses and individuals, our ultimate aim is to raise funds for the Foundation, which will crucially be fed back into our community to benefit youngsters from this region.
“Most recently we have been able to support many local initiatives and individuals through Foundation funding, and we are focused on collaborating with local businesses to ensure we continue to raise the aspirations of local youngsters.”
Anyone who would like to donate prizes for the event can contact foundationmayball@gusrobinson.com or call (01429) 234 221 for further details.
