Home improvement startup Opun receives seven-figure backing from insurance giant
London home improvement tech startup Opun has secured £3m investment from Aviva Ventures, the tech investment arm of insurance giant Aviva.
The PropTech firm, who were founded in 2015 by Rod Brown and John Cushing, is to use the investment to expand its tech infrastructure and expand its customer service offering.
Opun puts individuals who require home improvement work in direct contact with vetted contractors, users post the home improvement works they are considering and Opun negotiate the price, providing quality guarantees and secure online payment.
Aviva Ventures, which is housed at Aviva’s Digital Garage in Hoxton Square, was established last December and will look to commit £100m of investment over the next five years to high growth businesses and entrepreneurs.
John Cushing, CCO and co-founder at Opun, said: “People are tired of receiving conflicting quotes for the same work and then having to settle for substandard quality.
“The customer-contractor relationship in the UK is in desperate need of repair and it’s our aim to do just that. We give customers unparalleled support at every stage, thereby empowering them to make informed decisions on their home improvement.”
