UKFast City of Salford10K partners with The Christie
Leading North West Charity, The Christie, has been announced as the official charity partner for this year’s UKFast City of Salford 10K race.
Runners who take part in the UKFast City of Salford 10K on Sunday 4 September can run for The Christie which raises vital funds for The Christie NHS, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe.
The Christie’s Sporting Events Manager, Lucy Naylor said: “We are very excited to be the chosen charity partner for the UKFast City of Salford 10K race. It’s a great 10k, right in the heart of Salford, and will attract a strong field of runners. We hope that as many runners as possible will sign up for Team Christie and help support The Christie against cancer.”
The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to patients and their families. The charity has over 30,000 supporters who raised £13.3m last year.
Last year, the race welcomed more than 3,500 runners who took to the streets of Salford, following a scenic route around Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.
Chris Bird, Chief Executive of Sports Tours International, who organises the event, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome The Christie as the official charity partner to this year’s UKFast City of Salford 10K event. It’s a fantastic charity that raises vital funds for much needed causes.
Chris added: “Over the past few years the race has continued to grow to become one of most popular races in the region, and we look forward to welcoming a record number of runners this year.”
Manchester based cloud provider UKFast is the lead sponsor of the City of Salford 10K and The Christie is also charity partner of UKFast.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones: “We’re proud to sponsor the City of Salford 10k and choosing The Christie as this year’s charity partner was an incredibly personal choice for UKFast. The Christie is an extraordinary organisation and the work that Christie NHS carries out is essential not just in the region, or UK, but globally. It’s now Greater Manchester’s responsibility to get their running shoes on, get training and raise as much money as we can to keep this vital work going.”
Runners can also choose to race for their own chosen charity. The winners of each race will receive a cash prize, and everyone who enters will receive a Sports Tours International t-shirt and medal.
