North Yorkshire haulier drives expansion plans with significant funding
North Yorkshire haulier Longthorne’s of Hebden is gearing up its expansion plans by purchasing new vehicles with funding from Barclays.
Established in 1928 by Herbert Longthorne, Longthorne’s of Hebden is a family owned business located at The Garage, Hebden, Near Skipton.
Brothers Mark, Gordon and Jonathan took over the business from their father Ken and now operate over 30 trucks both in the UK and overseas and specialise in hauling both aggregates and livestock as well as acting as a merchant for the sale of quarry products.
The new funding has enabled the purchase of three new HGVs, two tippers and two trailers to add to their fleet.
Gordon Longthorne, partner at Longthorne’s of Hebden, said: “We already have thirty trucks ranging from ten through to thirty tonne vehicles but wanted expand the fleet and make sure we provide first class service for our customers.
“The new vehicles will increase capacity and also ensure we operate in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way that we can, supporting our long term growth plans.”
Longthorne’s of Hebden employ thirty five people and turnover for the current year is expected to exceed £5m.
Nick Aldridge, the relationship manager at barclays who put together the funding package for the deal, commented: “It’s great to be able to support a local business that is thriving and expanding for the future. Mark, Gordon and Jonathan operate a brilliant family run business and the future looks bright for this ambitious business.”
