Festive Lights' operation in Wigan

Festive Lights to boost capacity with 25,000 sq ft Wigan warehouse extension

Global lighting distributor Festive Lights is expanding its facility in Greater Manchester after securing planning consent for a 25,000 sq ft extension.

The Chorley-headquartered firm is set to increase its total footprint to 48,000 sq ft and boost its distribution capabilities with additional space at its warehouse in Wigan.

The move comes in the wake of a bumper year for Festive Lights, which reported a sales increase of 40% and sent out over 88k parcels during Christmas 2015.

Since moving its warehouse and showroom from Charnock Richard, near Chorley, to Wigan three years ago, the firm has expanded its product portfolio to include three range categories: home, garden and decorative.

Festive Lights’ general manager, Stephen Alty, said: “Our customer numbers and product base continues to increase daily, so we were beginning to outgrow our existing operation.

“We’ve achieved excellent performance by successfully adapting a sales channel from bricks to clicks that puts the customer first.”

He continued: “Moving into new lighting markets, a keen eye for trends and designing our own bespoke products has fuelled growth and we’ve worked hard over recent months to ensure we’ve the resources in place to drive forward our ambitious development plans.”

Once the expansion is complete, Festive Lights also plans to offer fulfillment and warehousing services for local companies, allowing them the use the space to potentially save money and streamline their operations.

Stephen said of the services: “This is perfect for startups that sell on the likes of Ebay and via Amazon and have outgrown their current operations.

“Our new facilities will provide seamless integration, meaning orders are picked, packed and shipped accurately to their own customers.”

The contractor chosen to deliver the extension, Wareing Buildings, is due to complete construction this autumn.
