Dominique Ansel, the superstar pastry chef who created the cronut, has announced he is to open a new bakery in London.
The Dominique Ansel Bakery London is due to open late summer/early autumn 2016 at 17-21 Elizabeth St., Belgravia, and will be Ansel’s first European bakery following outlets in New York City and Tokyo.
Dominique enjoyed worldwide acclaim after sparking a culinary craze in 2013 with the cronut, a pastry which crosses a croissant with a doughnut, at his New York bakery which he opened in 2011.
Since then, the pastry chef opened his Dominique Ansel Kitchen in New York in Apri last yearl, followed by his Tokyo bakery in June.
Dominique commented: “Although I grew up in France, so close to London, I didn’t have a chance to visit until I was much older. When I did, I immediately fell in love with the blend of cultures and the spirit of the city.
“With each new place we go, our team draws a huge amount of inspiration. London not only gives us access to the ingredients across all of Europe, it will also be a chance for us to learn quite a bit along the way.”
