Developer Seddon nabs £2.4m Manchester housebuilding contract
Building firm Seddon has secured a seven-figure contract for the construction of almost two dozen new homes on brownfield land in Clayton, Manchester.
As part of the £2.4m project, Bolton-headquartered Seddon will deliver 22 shared ownership properties for Adactus Housing Association.
Work on the scheme, located on Viola Street, is now underway.
Seddon’s regional housing director, Duncan Williams, commented: “With Council estimates stating that 10k new homes need to be built in Manchester every year, we are delighted that this project with Adactus will help to contribute to that housebuilding drive and get more people onto the property ladder.
“Seddon has a fantastic track record in delivering a wide variety of projects for housing associations, having secured £40m in contracts in 2015 and appointed to all major frameworks.”
He added: “We look forward to working closely with Adactus, and bring our expertise and commitment to delivering schemes that have a profound effect on people and communities throughout this project.”
Adactus, which forms part of the Adactus Housing Group, is delivering the Clayton homes in partnership with the government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Manchester City Council (MCC).
Garnet Fazackerley, Adactus’ operations director of development, said: “We are delighted to be working with MCC, the HCA and Seddon to bring this site forward and provide affordable home ownership options for local people.”
The homes are due for completion in March 2017.
