Stockport takes first place for commercial recruitment firm

Stockport town centre has attracted another new business to Regent House, the flagship property owned and managed by Orbit Developments.

F1rst Commercial Recruitment have recently moved into the multi-storey commercial office space from Deansgate in central Manchester. The staffing specialists have taken an office on the 10th floor of the town centre building, which accommodates their staff as well as a separate meeting area for candidate interviews.

Sharon Seville, manager of F1rst Commercial Recruitment, explained the rationale behind the move: “Working in central Manchester was great, but after six years of commuting from Marple, it took its toll.

“I’m a working mum, and juggling the school run with the commute into the city was a bit of a challenge! I’d often be arriving late due to the static traffic in and out of Manchester, and thanks to after-school commitments I had no time to myself. I needed a much better work/life balance.”

The move, in part, came from the recommendation of local businesswoman Jo Shippen. Also based in Regent House, Jo owns branded merchandise company, Hatters Promotions.

“I’ve known Jo for a number of years,” said Sharon. “She recommended that I took a look at Regent House. When I viewed the property, it was easy to see why Jo is so keen!

“It has all of the things I liked about our last property; a central location that is easy to find and easily accessible for our clients and candidates, the building is iconic in a town that is local to me, and the transport links are excellent.”

The 10th floor of Regent House boasts excellent views across Stockport Town Centre, notably of the up and coming Redrock leisure development, which Sharon believes will bring a much needed buzz to the town centre.

“I’m amazed by how much the town is doing in terms of regeneration,” she explained. “It feels like a good time to be based in Stockport. It’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement of what the town will become!”

As Stockport’s largest commercial landlord, Orbit Developments strives to go the extra mile and drive engagement among their occupiers. Its quarterly ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ events at Regent House give new customers the opportunity to get to know other businesses in the building. Sharon sais: “It gave us the chance to meet our neighbours and do a spot of networking, whilst receiving updates from the Orbit team about our building and the goings on in Stockport. I also learned about the SKone reward card – which is a great idea and an added perk of being in an Orbit property!”

The SKone card is provided free of charge to all customers and their employees based in any of the 12 Orbit Developments properties across Stockport town centre, and entitles the customer to a range of discounts and offers from local independent businesses. Recent additions to the scheme include new hairdressing salon Dry, and sandwich shop BAP.

Tony Jones, Managing Director of Orbit Developments, was glad to hear of the recommendation from Jo Shippen. “Word of mouth recommendations are invaluable for our business,” he said. “I’m pleased to hear our customers speak so highly of Regent House. We are delighted to welcome F1rst Commercial Recruitment and wish them well.”
