HomeServe’s charity fundraising effort reaches almost £20,000
Generous HomeServe employees have helped raise almost £20,000 for charity Marie Curie in just three months as part of their long-term support for the charity.
Staff set to work reaching the mammoth amount by donating spare or unwanted clothes – a scheme that has proven so popular a collection bin has been installed at the company’s Walsall headquarters and Preston site – as well as a host of fundraising activities already this year.
As part of the drive, HomeServe has partnered with Marie Curie on a unique ‘Pennies for Patients’ scheme in which staff at its sites across the UK can opt for any pennies in their salaries to be rounded down every month and the difference donated. HomeServe also contributes cash raised from staff buying additional paid-for holiday days directly to the charity.
Combined, payroll giving and charity fundraising events have raised more than £19,000 in the first three months of 2016.
“We love the fact that our People are so passionate about the causes they care about, and the total raised so far in 2016 shows just how powerful that can be”, said John Greaves, HomeServe’s Brand Director. “Lots of small things – even a penny here and there – can add up, and we hope the money raised so far will make a huge difference to those people supported by Marie Curie, who have been affected by terminal illness.”
During Valentine’s week earlier this year, HomeServe colleagues bought love-filled “thank you” balloons for each other, raising £2,000 for Marie Curie and filling the company’s offices in Walsall, Preston and Banbury with hundreds of balloons.
“HomeServe has been an incredible partner to Marie Curie for many years and 2016 is no exception”, added Sarah Colberg, Corporate Account Manager at Marie Curie. “Through its donations and support over five years, we have funded the equivalent cost of 44 Marie Curie Nurses to provide vital care for hundreds of people in the UK living with terminal illness, and their families.”
The 2016 Marie Curie fundraising effort is just one element of HomeServe’s commitment to supporting its local communities and charities across the UK.
